Dog City is out now!

The last couple of updates here have concerned the release of our new EP, ‘Dog City’. Unfortunately this one is no different. Until people buy them all I’m gonna have to try and fight the complete apathy that some people in Norwich and beyond have, despite saying stuff like ‘support the scene’. Anyway, I digress. The EP has now been printed, assembled and everything else and is ready for people to buy. Here are pictures for you to judge.

P2240693Tapes available in 4 colours

Each format is limited and hand-numbered to 100. The artwork was designed by Pete. (Our drummer)

We are really pleased with how they have come out, and hopefully people like what they hear, if/when they get a copy.

I think I’ve probably gone over track listing and everything before, but for those that haven’t read it; the songs were all recorded in June 2009, by Andy at Purple Studios. Some tracks were on the demo we put up for download, but we also recorded a few new ones we have been working on. The full track listing is…

The Unbearable Shiteness of Being

Dog City

Bowser’s Castle

Your Missing Cat Is Dead

10 Steps to Middle Class Rebellion

The Great Shatsby

Once Came Over the Cuckoo’s Chest

P2240702
P2240705 (2)
P2240705

Tapes are coloured with matching case and come with a lyrics sheet and a download code. We are also selling the download codes on their own for anyone who wants to pay for their music but doesn’t want to be able to hold it… or something.

You can get your hands on a copy of either format for £4 plus postage at www.doriangay.bigcartel.com

They are basically self released as WWHRD Records is just an extension of my ‘zine and means i can use contacts to sell it, as well as being an ideal way to start releasing stuff I like, which is something i want to do. We will use any money we get for future recordings and also to print up some fancy t-shirts.

We took these EPs to sell for the very first time into what had over the past few weeks become our ‘release show’. This was at The Marquee, with Radicus, Darwin and the Dinosaur and Boobie Trap, and we didn’t sound very much like any of them, but never mind, it happens a lot. We played well, and some of the regulars at our shows said it may be the best we have played, which is quite some feat as we are awesome. There was a fairly good turnout, I got balloons, we had Doris up behind us and those things you blow and they unravel which aren’t actually all that fun but people have them at parties. It was a bit pathetic really, but that was the vibe I wanted. We managed also to sell about 8 EPs which is pretty good going, but it does mean some people have yet to buy one, and we have some release show packages left for those who get in there early online etc. This way you can pretend you were at a historic show in the future when everyone thinks we are cool, rather than making snide comments on facebook as though we actually give a fuck what someone who ‘likes’ Down To Nothing thinks.

The important thing as well that was with a few notable and I assume unavoidable exceptions, all the Norwich punx and non punx that I like were there. If you did come, thank you, it means a lot to me, and I wouldn’t love Norwich nearly as much without you awesome lovely people. Fuck the kids who still think Bane are good, messing about with my friends and running on their backs when they try for a human pyramid rules so much harder. The past week in Norwich seeing everyone and playing with Dorian Gay has been excellent, so bring on the rest of the year!

We’ve got a couple of gigs lined up in the next couple of weeks as well as one in London, but I will do a separate post for that in the next few days.

Add my new band- www.myspace.com/wearejackals we do powerviolence type stuff.
