On Friday (March 4th) we played our very first show.
Having had a band drop off the lineup, the promoter of the show was looking for a band to step in, and seizing the oppertunity, i got in contact…
We only had around 15 minutes worth of material, and we had not rehearsed enough with Tom for him to be ready to play, but i was itching toget up and test the songs out, and we thought it would be a good indication for where we are at.

We played with the bands above, all of whom were really nice guys and were very supportive, despite the fact that our style of music, despite being under the punk umbrella, were quite different. Toybox Terror are a mix of technical metal with plenty of interesting time changes, and a hardcore sensibility. D-Control were a crust/D-beat band which recalled stuff like Discharge, and i enjoyed their set a lot, as well as the bean chilli the singer provided. Meinhof were a similar sort of band, although they are based in London, rather than Norwich like the rest of us. They were faster and more frantic, featuring gravelly vocals also.
Overall it was a great first gig, several people came up to say they enjoyed it after the show, and we were cheered to play for longer, so due to not having any more songs, we played ‘The Great Shatsby’ twice. We managed to avoid any major fuck ups, and it was a great, and fun introducion to the world of gigging as Dorian Gay.
Here’s to a shitload more!
